Artists find purpose for plastic
Re-Surgence sculpture begins to take shape
Toledo, Ohio – All summer long, a trio of local and regional artists, Sayaka Ganz, Greg Mueller and Steve Williams, will be constructing a sculpture at Imagination Station made from thousands of recycled blue, green and purple post-consumer items (measuring cups, spoons, toys).
The artists are inviting the community to come out and lend a hand at constructing this fifty-foot long sculpture, titled Re-surgence, which will be the third work of public art to be permanently installed at the Huntington Center. The sculpture topographically depicts the Downtown section of the Maumee River.
Visitors to Imagination Station are asked to bring unwanted household plastics with them to donate to this artistic venture. The types of products the artists are looking for are listed on the attachment.
Imagination Station, located on the downtown Toledo riverfront, is a science center dedicated to delivering science and technology based programming to youth and their families throughout Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. All activities are included in the cost of admission.
