Clifford the Big Red Dog Makes Personal Appearance

Toledo, Ohio – This is going to be an exciting weekend at Imagination Station, filled with activities for kids of all ages. Saturday, June 26, from 10:00am-2:00pm, we feature the Perrysburg Area Arts Council (PAAC) as they create sidewalk chalk art around Imagination Station. Participating artists, Michael Provenza, of Three Trees Studio, and Valerie French, of Studio-Eclectic, will bring this amazing talent to the science center between 10:00am-2:00pm. Other local artists will join in to lend a hand creating chalk drawings based on the work of Provenza and French. Volunteers from PAAC will be helping visitors create their own sidewalk art.

Then on Sunday, Sunday, June 27, Clifford the Big Red Dog will be making a personal appearance at Imagination Station to the delight of children and parents in the area. This lovable pup has been a popular character in children’s literature for over 40 years and is now coming to the science center for a one-time opportunity. Come meet Clifford in person and have your photo taken with him. The first 100 kids to meet Clifford get a free goody bag.

Clifford the Big Red Dog is an American children’s book series first published in 1963. Clifford was the runt of the litter and was chosen by a city child named Emily Elizabeth Howard as her birthday present. No one expected Clifford to grow, but Emily Elizabeth’s love for her tiny red puppy changed Clifford dramatically. Before long, he was over 25 feet tall, forcing the Howard family to leave the city and move to the open spaces of Birdwell Island.

Imagination Station, located on the downtown Toledo riverfront, is a science center dedicated to delivering science and technology based programming to youth and their families throughout Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. All activities are included in the cost of admission.
