Imagination Station’s Pepsi Refresh Project:
Inspire a love of science in Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo kids
Each month, The Pepsi Refresh program accepts 1,000 ideas that benefit the community and posts them on its website. The projects that receive the most votes win. Our project is entered under the “Education” category, and we will receive $5,000 to carry it out if we are one of the Top 10 Projects. But before we can help the Boys & Girls Club kids, we need your help. We need you to vote for our project!
Today’s students are tomorrow’s problem solvers. To tackle the challenges of our time—global warming, healthcare, energy use and more—we’ll need many more graduates with science and technology skills. Help us spark the interest and capabilities of underserved students from our community by allowing us to provide hands-on science programs to at-risk kids who rarely get the chance to visit our award-winning science center. We will provide workshops for 200 kids at Boys & Girls Club locations throughout urban Toledo, Ohio. Our workshops provide academic enrichment and cover concepts studied and tested in schools. For example, students learn about forces and motion by constructing roller coasters.
We will give 60 family memberships to workshop participants. At Imagination Station, science is a creative process. Students can study momentum by riding the BOYO, our human yo-yo. They learn about simple machines by having a tug-of-war at our Giant Lever exhibit. And a visit to Imagination Station is a great way to spend quality family time.
Help us ensure that Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo members receive academic enrichment and science excitement in important subjects that will impact their academic and career futures.
