Seeing Spots

Do you recognize these spots?

You may have guessed that they are cow spots… BUT they are actually on a rabbit. This particular rabbit is a Mini Rex, who is the mother of 2 “kits,” which is another name for baby rabbits. This little family can be found at Farm Fest until July 1; they are also joined by an Angora named Lola, and yes – she is just as fancy as a showgirl! To round out our rabbit showcase, we have a Flemish Giant named Olivia who weighs in at a whopping 15 pounds. You’ll need to see it to believe it because she is only half grown. By the time Olivia is a mature adult, she will tip the scale at nearly 30 pounds. Not to mention, she is pregnant. Luckily, she hasn’t had any strange cravings yet, but there is still time – her babies aren’t due until mid July.

COMING SOON!

We have 2 female Boer goats who will be arriving for the final week of Farm Fest; unfortunately, they do not have names yet, which means that we need your help! There will be a voting center inside the Farm Fest exhibit where you can cast your vote… make sure you stop by Imagination Station for more details.

  • What is Farm Fest?

We are bringing the farm to downtown Toledo for a 3-week long event to recognize and celebrate the abundance provided by American agriculture. If you’re looking to give your kids a “down on the farm” experience but can’t make it out to the country, Farm Fest will offer you an opportunity to expose your children to the good life right here in downtown Toledo.

Keep up to date on all the farm action on our News from the Farm Blog.

  • What can I see and do?

Animals: We will be hosting a variety of animals inside the building. Everything from Pigs, Bunnies, Goats, Chickens (eggs, peeps and chicks) along with a few full grown chickens and some Tilapia.

Equipment: A collection of antique farming equipment and tools for viewing purposes. We also have a few pieces of newer equipment for kids to hop on and explore.

Activities: Kids can get hands-on with a variety of activities that make getting dirty – fun! Dates and times for activities will vary. Kids can even try their hands at milking a cow, although this cow doesn’t moo – she’s fiberglass.
