Hey There, Delilah…

Can you guess what that picture is? It’s Delilah! More specifically, it is her toes. Pigs have four toes on each of their hooves. However, they only walk on two of their toes on each hoof kind of like they are walking on tip toes all the time.

Delilah is from Barney Family Farms and will be at Imagination Station for the next three weeks. Fortunately for her, she is among the smartest of the animals joining us for Farm Fest. The only thing in the exhibit smarter than her, will be you. Pigs are the fourth smartest animal on the animal intelligent list. Humans are at the top of the list, followed by primates, dolphins and whales, and then pigs.

Be sure to explore all of the activities and read all of the signs in the exhibit to learn something new and show that humans really are the smartest. When Delilah leaves Imagination Station on July 1st she will be preparing to have some piglets.

A mother pig is called a Sow, a father big is called a Boar, and a baby pig is called a Piglet. Now you know why Piglet is named Piglet in Winnie the Pooh. A Sow can have eight to twelve piglets in one litter, and can have to litters per year. That’s a lot of piglets for one Sow!

Come and visit Delilah, the hens, bunnies, chicks, goats, and more starting tomorrow (June 9th) until July 1st.
