EGGstreme Science

Become a science EGGspert! Imagination Station Toledo Eggstreme Science

March 23 – April 7

Spring into Imagination Station and explore the science of eggs. Stand eggs on end, pull eggs into a bottle and make naked eggs.

Make sure to EGGsperience these EGGciting EGGsperiments at EGGstreme Science:

Naked Eggs
Use chemistry, not force, to remove the shell of a delicate raw egg, leaving behind only the “guts” trapped inside its translucent membrane.

Shrunken (Naked) Eggs
See osmosis at it’s finest by dipping a naked egg into a hypertonic solution.

Chia Eggs
Calling all artists! Recycle and decorate egg shells to create biodegradable seed starters. Just place these cute little pots right into the ground and watch your seedlings sprout and take off.

Egg in a Bottle
We put a unique spin on this classic EGGsperiment by inverting the bottle and pulling the egg UP!

Spinning Eggs
Which spins better – raw or hard-boiled eggs? Make your guess and then put them to the test. Which will be victorious and why?

Egg Stand
Can an egg stand on end? We can make it happen and so can you. Learn our secret. It’s something you might never expect.

Meet Live Oviparous Animals

March 30, 1:30-3pm

The Toledo Zoo knows Eggs-actly how cool eggs can be!  Join the Zoo here at Imagination Station for a demonstration and meet some live oviparous (egg-laying) animals and explore how eggs are an awesome adaptation and protection!
