Choose from these great topics:
Students learn about the different states of matter while watching experiments with liquid nitrogen. This workshop creates a cloud in the classroom, gets raisins to dance and explores the properties of plasma.
Increase your students’ awareness of environmental sustainability through hands-on explorations with solar houses and windmills. Discover more about energy consumption and conservation to prepare your students to be stewards of a more sustainable future.
Developed with a grant from the Ohio Environmental Education Fund (OEEF)
Chemistry has never been so interesting! Students will discover substances with strange and surprising properties. They’ll explore the differences between chemical and physical changes while experimenting with film canister rockets and end the workshop by creating endothermic and exothermic reactions.
Engineering Design Process
During this workshop, your students will confront challenges as they design and build. Utilizing the engineering design process (Think It. Build It. Test It … Do It Again!), your class will think like engineers and see the creative and dynamic sides of this important field.
Let your students travel back in time using scientific inquiry to discover the world of dinosaurs. During this workshop, students will become paleontologists and dig for fossils to learn how scientists study animals that disappeared 65 million years ago.
Learn about the two key compo- nents to a healthy lifestyle – eating nutritious foods and getting enough exercise. This workshop lets your students investigate the heart as a muscle using our heart pump, and learn how calories are used for energy with our calorie fountain.
Newton’s Roller Coasters
Explore the physics behind these exciting thrill rides by experimenting with velocity, momentum, acceleration and centripetal force! Students will learn how to get an egg to fall unharmed into a glass, pick up a marble using only motion and end the workshop by building their own scream machines.

Your students will be amazed once they’ve entered our portable planetarium. STARLAB allows students to study the sun, moon, earth and the day and night sky without leaving school. They’ll gain a new understanding of our galaxy and how scientists study the universe.
Cost: $300 for 1 hour of programming plus $.60/mile outside Lucas County.
