LIVE Report!
LIVE Report! features a mock BCSN TV news studio. BCSN is Buckeye CableSystem’s exclusive 24-hour sports network focused on local sports and athletes from junior high school up through college, to Toledo’s own Walleye and Mud Hens. At the Imagination Station set, visitors can “be” the sports reporter reading a prepared script from a teleprompter, while actual footage from an area game plays behind him or her.
The anchor, pre-recorded, “throws” the show to the reporter, who makes the on-site comments just as if it were a live broadcast. The entire production is recorded and the reporter and his or her family and friends can watch it tape-delayed on a TV set outside the exhibit.
The set contains permanent seats resembling a grandstand where family members and friends can watch the reporter’s performance.
LIVE Report! is a unique blend of science, sports and technology. It was made possible because of a promise made by Buckeye CableSystem to the science center during its victorious levy attempt in November 2008.
Energy Factory – NOW OPEN!
Energy Factory, Imagination Station’s newest Learning World, offers visitors a glimpse into the abstract world of oil refining and solar energy, using dozens of visually stimulating, hands-on exhibits and personalized opportunities to contribute.
To name just a few, we’ve included an 8’ x 10’ Photovoltaic Wall encouraging visitors to be a cloud and block out the sun. This exhibit, which fosters group involvement, demonstrates how blocking light effects energy output. We’ve included a Ball Refinery, where visitors process colorful balls of different sizes into heavy, medium and light distillates. Our Solar Shooting Gallery is a competition-style exhibit that pits visitor vs. visitor in an interactive game. Competitors use light to score points as they learn about energy through play. Take a quiz and see where you stack up against other visitors on energy related questions. Leave your thoughts behind in Voice of the Visitor, where you can record your own opinion and let others hear your thoughts.
