Make a Difference Today
Project Revolution is about empowering kids to make a change. It’s about inspiring our future scientists, engineers and geologists to make a difference and change the world.
Project Revolution is asking you to give $100 to our pursuit of excellence in science education. Between April 22 (Earth Day) and May 13, we ask that you embrace our effort to support science education for the children who will grow up to be the caretakers of our Earth. By making a generous donation to Imagination Station’s Project Revolution, we can make great strides toward making a change in the lives of the children in our community.
In our lifetimes, we’ve adapted to the idea of a ‘green’ world, where recycling and alternative energy sources are recent inclusions to our every day conversations. The children walking through the doors of Imagination Station and into our homes every day are the future generation. They’ve been recycling since they could help sort, they know what ‘organic’ means and why it’s important and they’re being taught to appreciate what the Earth has given us, to respect it and to try to find ways to maintain it.
The child who visits Imagination Station today may be the person that finds the cure for cancer, designs structures that resist earthquakes or develops usable alternative energy sources.
That’s what Project Revolution is all about. It will help us to raise necessary funds to make science education available to all kids. The next Albert Einstein, Marie Curie or Leonardo Da Vinci may soon be in our midst, and we want to ensure that while exploring Imagination Station they’re finding inspiration that will change their life, and change our world.
Maybe it’s your child, your grandchild, your niece, nephew or neighbor. Whoever it is, every child should be inspired and ask the question “What can I do?”.
Giving to Project Revolution will be one generous step in the right direction.
Give to Project Revolution today!
What Will We Do?
“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is now.” ~Chinese Proverb
We recognize that change starts from within. So, beginning Sunday, April 25, as we celebrate Earth Day, every family that visits Imagination Station will receive a Scotch Pine sapling (while supplies last) to plant wherever they want to make a change. By planting a tree, you can help to change the world. Planting one tree does the following:
- Saves an estimated $7 in annual environmental benefits, including energy conservation and reduced pollution.
- Produces approximately 260 pounds of oxygen per year. That means that 2 mature trees can supply enough oxygen annually to support a family of 4!
- One tree can absorb as much carbon in a year as a car produces while driving 26,000 miles.
- Over the course of its life, a single tree can absorb one ton of carbon dioxide.
Thank you to Lucas Soil & Water Conservation District for the generous donation of the saplings!

NOW OPEN!
In order to better understand our place on the Earth and what we can do to affect it, we’ve developed and are proud to announce the grand opening of our newest learning world, Energy Factory, on May 13. With generous donations from BP Husky and First Solar, Energy Factory offers visitors a glimpse into the world of oil refining and solar energy, two of the most abundant and common energy sources utilized today.
As the next generation is charged with the responsibility to recognize alternative fuel sources, it’s important that they understand how petroleum based products are gathered, refined and used. Further, we explain how the power of the sun is being harnessed and used as an alternative to more conventional means.
Energy Factory gives visitors a chance to have fun with the power of the sun and get an education in oil refining through exciting, interactive exploration.
Your Corner of the Earth
Children are an honest reflection of those around them. If we, as adults, are good stewards of the Earth, our children will follow suit and appreciate and protect the land around them. Take the time to stop and smell the flowers and the trees, breath in the air. Take the time, as a family, to go outside and appreciate nature. Kids are capable of much more than we give them credit for. If they understand why it is important to make a change, they will. So involve them in finding solutions to creating a better world. If you empower them to make good decisions, they will. Here are a few other things to think about and talk about with your family.
- Look at the life cycle of everything. Discovering where things come from and where they go is enlightening.
- Embrace the butterfly effect. Small changes lead to bigger changes and to bigger ones. Never underestimate the power of a simple change.
- The average person can recognize more than 1,000 corporate logos, but they can recognize fewer than 10 native plants. Explore your environment and learn about where you live.
- The average fruit or vegetable travels more than 1,600 miles from the farm to your table. That journey causes a lot of pollution. To reduce that pollution, buy local and support those who support your community.
- Recycling just one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a television for three hours. Americans use more than 80 trillion aluminum cans every year! (On a High Note: Beverage cans are some of the most widely recycled items!)
- Always remember that reusing and reducing are more important for protecting the Earth than recycling. It’s great to recycle, but it should only be an option if there isn’t a way to reuse or reduce.
- More than 20 million Hershey’s Kisses are wrapped each day. Sounds sweet, but it uses 133 square miles of aluminum foil. It’s all recyclable, but most people throw it away. Next time you have a Kiss, recycle the foil.
- Don’t know how or where to recycle something? Earth911 is the premier resource for finding the facts on recycling.
- Did you know that there are more living individual organisms in a tablespoon of soil than there are people on the Earth? Everyone, including the organisms in that tablespoon of dirt, does their part to keep the world healthy and promote life. What have you done today?
- All the water on the planet today is all the water people will ever have. There is no way to make “new” water. Just think – the water that you drink today, is the same water that the dinosaurs drank millions of years ago.
