5th grade Science Education Partnership
Taylor Automotive Family and The Blade “adopt” roughly 3,000 TPS and Catholic Diocese students and teachers.
Each 5th grade student in Toledo Public Schools and 1,000 5th graders in the Toledo Diocese will receive a field trip to Imagination Station between March 1st and March 23rd, 2012. Field trip reservations may be made by calling 419.244.2674 ext. 250 or reserve online.
Prep4Ed (Teacher Professional Development)
Imagination Station will be hosting an exclusive Prep4Ed for TPS teachers on Tuesday, February 21, from 4:00–5:30pm, and Catholic Diocese teachers on Tuesday, March 13, from 4:00-5:30pm. Teachers should plan to attend in order to maximize their field trip experience including an exciting opportunity to tour MindBender Mansion, our latest traveling exhibition.
Attention Toledo Public School Teachers
Imagination Station will also provide a limited number of Science Festivals* to TPS Elementary schools. This program is generously supported by the Taylor Automotive Group in conjunction with The Blade. Science Festivals are designed for up to 300 students in multiple grades.
Please read the overview of each science festival and select which you would prefer. Teachers can choose either a Forces and Motion or a Structures Science Festival. Imagination Station cannot guarantee that you will receive your selection, but we will do our best to provide the programming you would prefer.
*Forces and Motion Science Festival
The Forces and Motion Science Festival helps students discover the science and the scientists behind some of the world’s greatest inventions. Your students will put their knowledge of motion to work building roller coasters, launching film canister rockets, creating a button flywheel and much more!
*Structures Science Festival
Build big with hands-on math and engineering activities designed around some of history’s most notable creations. Students will have the opportunity to build their own geodesic domes, create a keystone arch and design a house stable enough to withstand an earthquake.This Science Festival includes:
- Materials for 9 interactive tables
- Teacher curriculum guides, including post-visit activity
- Content standards alignment for Ohio
- Data Recording Sheet for each student
- Volunteer recruitment letter
- 45-minute training for teachers and adult volunteers prior to the start of the event
Your school provides:
- 9-12 volunteers to facilitate activities
- 9 tables, approximately 6-8 feet
- A large open room, such as a gymnasium or cafeteria
