Delicate snowflakes and deep drifts, seasonal sports and unique gifts – winter gives us plenty of reasons to explore our world, discover new things and learn some Snowmazing Science! Join us to share in all the merriment, magic and science of the season!

Now through January 20

Help transform Imagination Station into a winter wonderland! Explore physics and learn how to use hand tools as you use your creativity to construct a kinetic structure to display. Together we will fill Discovery Hall with a beautiful blizzard of twirling, swirling snow mobiles!

While you're here, be sure to check out the ODOT snow plow blade painted by students from Toledo School for the Arts.

Winter Sports Science

December 14
‘Tis the season to bundle up and get active with winter sports! Learn about the unique sport of ice boating with Toledo Ice Yacht Club and discover the science in a wide variety of winter sports with Bowling Green Curling Club, Bowling Green Skating Club, Mountain Man Sports, Toledo Metroparks and the Toledo Walleye. Meet Toledo Walleye mascot, Spike and enter to win a tickets to catch a hockey game at Huntington Center.

Model Train Days

December 14 – 15, 21 – 22 and 26 - 29
Marvel at a model train display decorated with miniature villages, cities and rural areas courtesy of BOo COo Trains. Children and adults alike will enjoy searching for hidden items within the wintry scene. And learn the importance of respecting the immense size and power of trains with Operation Lifesaver. 

December 26 - 29
Make tracks to check out an incredible LEGO train display provided by the Michigan LEGO User Group (MichLUG) and learn about electromagnetic trains as you tinker with our team of EXTREME engineers! 

Laser Cut Gifts and Garb

Handmade presents are a gift from the heart and unique accessories are always in style! Get creative with the laser cutter to make and decorate a holiday ornament and glasses perfect for New Year’s Eve at these make and take events.

New Year’s Eve EVE Celebration & Bouncy Ball Drop

December 30
Drop in as we welcome 2020 with a one-of-a-kind party on the day before New Year’s Eve – New Year’s Eve EVE. Bounce from activity to activity throughout the building and help us count down to 2:20pm when 20,000 bouncy balls drop from the ceiling! 


Splash, Splatter and Spray

December 31 – January 5
Scientists know, experiments can get a little sticky (and slimy and sloppy) at times. Our mess-xperts are pulling out all the stops and bringing out our biggest mess maker experiments for one epic week of science fun. Come dressed for mess! 

Snowed In PJ Party

January 18 – 20

Beat cabin fever and celebrate in your jammies all weekend long at the science center’s PJ party. Play oversize chess and Jenga, and learn a variety of board and card games. Work with others to engineer a fort, watch some of the world's best compete in a Rubik’s Cube tournament and more!

Life is busy. We know it's not always easy to find the time to get away for a full day of fun at the science center. That's why Imagination Station is extending its hours to 8pm every third Thursday of the month!
 
Bring the whole family for the evening and experience hundreds of hands-on exhibits for just $5 admission each. It's a great way to squeeze some science fun into your busy schedule at a special admission price!
