Extreme Weather Week

November 19-24

Storms, lightning, tornadoes … oh my!
Weather is one of the most dynamic and complex forces that shapes our planet and affects our daily lives. Get a close-up look at some of the most astonishing and intense natural phenomena in this week dedicated to Extreme Weather.

Enjoy these extreme activities:

  • discover how temperature change affects the formation of clouds and watch a foggy mist appear right before your eyes
  • get a charge out of seeing how lightning forms during a thunderstorm
  • whip up a storm as you create a tornado in a bottle
  • learn how meteorologists measure wind speed with an anemometer
  • experiment with lasers and thermochromic paper to discover the invisible world of infrared heat
  • watch as snow forms instantly in your hand using a special polymer - even at room temperature
