Dinosaur Footprints

The triceratops was a massive dinosaur that was most easily identified by the bony frill around its neck and the three sharp horns for which is was named. This 30-foot-long dinosaur was an herbivore (plant eater) and walked on all four legs.

To discover how big dinosaurs were, let's trace their footprints.

What you need:
What you do:
  1. Print out the Triceratops footprint template and assemble the template together.

  2. Use the Triceratops footprint template to compare the size of a dinosaur footprint to yours.

  3. After comparing, use paper to trace and cut out your footprints, and then write down your findings.

  4. Then use the footprints to measure furniture and rooms. How many footprints go across the room?

Questions to ask:
  1. Put the footprints in order from smallest to largest

  2. How many of your footprints fit across the dinosaurs footprint?

  3. How big do you think a T.Rex footprint would be? Do you think it would be bigger or smaller than the Triceratops footprint?
